CHINON & BOURGEUIL WINE TOUR

Your private RiverLoire guide will come and pick you up at 9:15 am to drive you through the Chinonand Bourgueil wine areas for a full discovery day of the famous Loire Valley red wines.

 

But you will first make a stop at the ForteresseRoyale de Chinon. This medieval fortress stands on a strategic location at the top of a rocky spur. Its walls bear the memory of the famous encounter between Joan of Arc and Charles VII. 

 

A short drive will then lead us to a private estate for a guided tour of the wine cellar and a taste of some of the best red wines that Chinon wine appellation has to offer.

 

Lunch will be served in a restaurant in the medieval town of Chinon.

 

A little further away, after crossing the vineyards, you will enjoy more red wines, with private visits of renowned wine cellars in Bourgueil and Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil. The vineyards of Bourgueil, on the north bank of the Loire River lie between Saumur and the city of Tours. It is mostly Cabernet Franc, and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, that you will be offered to taste. Most of the wines are red, although there is some rosé.

 

At the end of the afternoon, your driver will bring you safely back to Amboise.
